![]() Structural Functional School is divided into three main groups, namely, British School of Structural Functionalism, American School of Structural Functionalism and French School of Structuralism. The Structural Functional Theory also got acceptance in America by the sociologist and anthropologists, while in French, Emile Durkheim and Levi Strauss developed Structural-Functional theory to a great extent. As the concepts of structure become wedded with function, this school is also known as Structural Functional school. The gap in opinions of Radcliffe-Brown and Malinowski become so wider that Brown and his associates established a separate school of thought known as Structural-Functional School of Anthropological thought. According to Brown the only acceptable definition of function was, ‘the contribution an institution makes to the maintenance of social structure”. Radcliffe-Brown put great emphasis upon distinguishing on the structural function from the function of Malinowski and others. Radcliffe-Brown who had used the term function earlier than Malinowski was not ready to accept Malinowski, who claimed himself as the father of functionalism on the basis of theory of need for which culture, either in past or at present was functional instrument. In their view the purpose of comparison was to explore socio-cultural institutions of present day societies in terms of their socio-cultural similarities. Malinowski and Radcliffe Brown developed the concept of synchronic functional analysis of culture which was concerned with present and now. This example illustrates that Structural Functionalism is generally seen as being supportive of the status quo. The implication, of course, is that, because society is functioning smoothly with gender stratification, such stratification is acceptable and efforts should not be made to change the arrangement. According to Structural Functionalist thought, a woman being subordinate to men allows the cogs of society to function smoothly as everyone in the society knows his or her respective positions in the hierarchy. Gender inequality offers a good illustration. ![]() Thus, one of the key ideas in Structural Functionalism is that society is made-up of groups or institutions, which are cohesive, share common norms, and have a definitive culture. In the structural functionalist model, individuals produce necessary goods and services in various institutions and roles that correlate with the norms of the society. In order for social life to survive and develop in society there are a number of activities that need to be carried out to ensure that certain needs are fulfilled. Structural Functionalism is a theoretical understanding of society that puts social systems as the collective means to fill society’s needs. Structural Functionalism is a sociological theory that attempts to explain why society functions the way it does by focusing on the relationships between the various social institutions that makes up society (e.g., government, law, education, religion etc.) 33. ![]() ![]() The film localises most of the contents of the book by placing the car in three generations of the Choudhary family, something Deven (Ajay Devgn) was hoping to pass down to Raj (Vatsal Sheth). When the car is vandalised by highschool bully Buddy, the car seeks revenge. Now, Christine is a jealous killer car who takes hold of Arnie. The story revolves around unpopular highschool kid Arnie, his best friend, girlfriend and a haunted 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine. ![]() Stephen King's 'Christine' wasn't his most popular novel but it was certainly a creepy read. Based loosely on Stephen King’s 'Christine', the film was visionary at the very least. But if director duo Abbas-Mustan and writers Lalit and Sunny Mahajan are going to credit themselves with anything in relation with the film, it’s the inventiveness. The nostalgia doesn’t make the movie a better one, Ayesha Takia’s debut is still haunted by the ghost of the film’s release, Vatsal Sheth was placed in one too many cringe-worthy scenes and God help those visuals. Having said that, I’m guessing Taarzan: The Wonder Car has some nostalgic strings attached to it. And maybe, you can’t get Himesh Reshammiya’s music and the comically ominous ‘Taarzan’ theme song out of your mind. If you have watched the film, you probably did so ironically or with people who seemed to enjoy their popcorn entertainment without bringing criticism and analysis to the theatres. Buckle up millennials, this is going to be a drive down memory lane. Looking back, I totally get why the film that launched Ayesha Takia was a flop but was it a complete failure? On the anniversary of Taarzan: The Wonder Car, I'm looking back at the film that could've been Bollywood's finer attempts at a revenge drama. Night Shyamalan’s The Village (in the same year, just to give you an idea of the range) so when The Wonder Car appeared with its weird purple hood driven by an unassuming Vatsal Sheth, I was intrigued, particularly by the concept of a possessed car. Having consumed the best of films pretty early into my childhood, I had already lapped up popular films like Back To The Future and more obscure hits like M. I couldn't either when I watched it on a vacation day and it was quite an experience. The Abbas and Mustan Burmawalla film's spectacle at the movies rivalled an actual car crash, it was terrible but you couldn't look away. It was also the year Taarzan: The Wonder Car released, accelerated through its ambitious 2h 42m run-time and crashed at the box office. 2004 was especially influential with films cementing the early cinematic tones of the decade. It was a strange time for Bollywood as the industry dabbled into everything between big family dramas with Indian diaspora in the States to cheesy college romances. There isn't any dull moment in the movie.Oh, the glorious early '00s, the decade of Dhoom, Main Hoon Na and RTDM. If you ignore all these logical mistakes and watch the movie, you will enjoy it a lot. There are many other loop holes that you can see on YouTube. Then only remaining scenes would have made sense. His financial situation would have been improved. Ideally our hero should have showcased that car to get some job as car designer. This is the biggest flaw in the story according to me. His garage boss also doesn't say anything. Then after making the car what our hero does? Starts roaming in the city in the car. But he finances our hero to build the car? Why? Emotions? Doesn't make sense. His boss in garage is very strict and can deduct salary for any uninformed leave. Our hero is a college student who is struggling to meet his daily needs. Then why the most didn't work? Because of illogical sequences and many loop holes. ![]() The movie concept is not ideal for promotion. The car didn't become famous as the movie didn't work. That movie became superhit but this movie was a disaster. Another movie was released just few days after this movie and promoted bikes(Dhoom). Also, car generates too much of smoke at very speed. Of course that happens because of the ghost but then the actual abilities of the car get hidden. The movie shows that car repairs itself, it goes sideways, does some acrobatic stunts. One for showcasing car abilities like power, comfort, style etc and another for the concept of car driven by a ghost (2 movies). Ideally there should have been 2 different stories made. The man returns as a ghost, uses this car to take revenge. A car designer is killed by some cunning business men his car. But the concept they choose to promote the car is wrong. This movie was made to showcase the car and the car seriously looks awesome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What games can you play with friends online? ![]() ![]() I more or less yoinked the style of a Cali driver's license but added things like the medium of the artist, and I made a checklist of "Artistic and Behavior Codes" on the back. But an answer was close at hand - dang it, I'm an artist, a creator! When the world doesn't fit, I change the world! And so I created my very own Artistic License. After all, I didn't have an art degree, let alone a physical ''artistic license'', whatever that would be. It's called Artistic License.īut somehow it always felt like a hollow statement. I'm taking license to make this weirdness. If you're like me, you're constantly getting asked things like, "Why on earth did you paint that toaster purple and install it on the ceiling?" or "Why do you drive a hearse that looks like a zebra?" Of course, the answer is all too simple: I'm an artist. Please email me: ECC first, last, and the symbol between. If you placed an order but never got it, I'm really sorry. Add a few busy school semesters and all control is lost missed orders result. Sadly spambots have taken over the order form, burying all legitimate orders among daily spam orders in the dozens. If an entry seems especially snarky about it, You Could Always Edit It Yourself, making it a little less snarky. Pointing out artistic license is not bad-mouthing a work. Someone listing an event of artistic license does not mean the work or use of this trope was bad. When reading about artistic license on a page, keep in mind that Tropes Are Tools. It will allow violations of External Consistency, and sometimes Genre Consistency, but usually not Internal Consistency. It also doesn't excuse Falsely Advertised Accuracy. This cannot be used to excuse Character Derailment or Contrived Stupidity Tropes. People still expect characters to be consistent. The license also doesn't allow every kind of inaccuracy. Another major downside is that this trope is often used negatively in an Author Tract, usually to construct a Straw Character or deliver a straw argument in favor of, or against, something. There isn't a complete consensus, of course, about which stories are on the right or wrong side of Sturgeon's Law. Not on purpose for the sake of the story but simply getting their facts objectively wrong, which is a flaw in the story. ![]() This is where the second type comes in the writers making the mistakes A bad story will often look worse for its inaccuracies. ![]() ![]() For the license to work, the story has to be good. These are changes to ensure Emotional Torque. If things have to be sped up to stay interesting, they will be. Truth isn't." If some things have to be fudged for the sake of a good story, then they will be fudged. note It's actually part of a longer quote by Mark Twain the full quote is, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Besides, whoever first said "truth is stranger than fiction" didn't know what they were talking about. It's about putting the story first - after all, the most important thing in fiction is telling a good story. In some cases, the research couldn't be done because information was lacking, so the artist made an educated guess. Sometimes, it's because it's the way it's always been done in show business, and, even if they themselves know the truth, the audience still wouldn't believe it otherwise. Often they know that what they are writing is off, and wrote it anyway. It's easy to assume that the writer didn't bother with research. The history is wrong, or the science is off, or something else. One, the writer is aware that some parts of the show are inaccurate. In a nutshell, there are two forms of this trope.
